Although I don’t attend Taylor University Fort Wayne, my daughter does and it has still had an influence on my life. TUFW has impacted my life by showing me how Christ is among us. It has been a blessing to be on campus and meet numerous students and staff members and to be able to watch how they truly believe in living their life in imitation of Jesus Christ. It has shown Christ to the community by giving volunteer time to help the less fortunate. Whether it’s by doing yard work for elderly, or tutoring in an inner-city school or any other way one can help those who need it.

A large portion of my interaction at TUFW involves the volleyball program. From the time my daughter first saw a TUFW volleyball team play, we were amazed how every player rooted for one another and did not blame each other when things did not go well. When my daughter was a freshman, I learned that the coach had a rule that if you commit an infraction, you have to be honest and admit it to the officials, even if they did not see it happen. I saw this act of honesty occur numerous times over the next few years. There were even times, when the coach would make a call against his own team by letting the officials know when a ball was out of bounds, or inbounds, and that call would result in a point for the other team. I would say the volleyball coach, Scott Haddix, impacted me the most. Being honest was one of the ways that Scott Haddix proved to me, his players and everyone in the gymnasium that living a Christian lifestyle was more important than winning a game.

One of the simplest things I learned from TUFW is that I want to always witness to others and to invite everyone to also give witness as a way of sharing God’s Word.
